In earlier lives he was Director of Economic Analysis at Office for National Statistics, and before that a Director of strategy consultancy PIMS Associates, specialising in innovation strategy for international firms. He has worked in strategy for ICT, media, services, consumer marketing, glass, steel and specialty chemicals. In his spare time he is trustee board member of a community theatre and a cycle campaigner.
